Reputable audit firms (Trail of Bits, ConsenSys Diligence, OpenZeppelin, Spearbit) review smart contracts before launch and publish reports. An audit reduces risk but doesn't eliminate it — many audited protocols have still been exploited. Multiple audits + a long live track record are stronger signals than a single audit.
