About DEXCEX

DEXCEX is an independent crypto market data portal. We track the world's top decentralized and centralized exchanges, the coins they list, the pairs they trade and the volume they move — and turn it all into clear, comparable rankings for traders, researchers and curious investors.

Our mission

The crypto market produces an overwhelming amount of data every second. Our mission is to cut through that noise and present the information that actually matters: which exchanges have the deepest liquidity, which coins are gaining traction, where pairs are most actively traded, and how the market as a whole is feeling right now.

We believe transparent, easy-to-read rankings empower better decisions — whether you are choosing where to trade, evaluating a new asset, or studying long-term market structure.

What we cover

Why DEXCEX

  • Independent. We do not promote specific exchanges or tokens. Rankings are driven by objective metrics — volume, liquidity, pair count and listed coins — not paid placement.
  • Comprehensive. Both sides of the market — DEX and CEX — under one roof, with consistent metrics so you can compare apples to apples.
  • Fast and clean. Pages load quickly, tables stay readable on every screen, and there are no popups or pushy newsletter walls in your way.
  • Built for traders and researchers. Every ranking shows pairs, coins, volumes and trends — exactly the metrics that matter when picking a venue or sizing a position.
  • Education first. Our guides explain the mechanics behind the numbers so the data is actually useful, not just decorative.

Methodology

Exchange rankings are built from continuously refreshed market data. For each venue we track 24-hour trading volume, the number of supported trading pairs and the number of unique coins listed. DEX rankings are split by category — spot, derivatives and aggregate volume — so users can drill into the segment they care about.

Cryptocurrency rankings rely on circulating market capitalization, 24h volume and price action across the broader market. Indicators like the Fear & Greed Index and the Altcoin Season Index give a high-level read on sentiment and capital rotation.

All data is presented for informational purposes. We aim for high accuracy but markets move fast — always confirm critical numbers on the venue you intend to trade on.

Update policy & data reliability

Trustworthy numbers are the whole point of DEXCEX, so we treat data quality as a first-class feature — not an afterthought. Here is how we keep the rankings honest and how you can read the figures with confidence.

How we keep data fresh

  • Continuous refresh cycles. Prices, volumes and exchange metrics are pulled on a short schedule throughout the day. Rankings you see are recomputed on every cycle, not cached overnight.
  • Cached for speed, not for staleness. A short-lived server cache keeps pages fast under load, but it is invalidated as soon as fresh data arrives — so a snappy page never means an old page.
  • Visible timestamps. Sentiment indicators and snapshot widgets show the date they refer to, so you always know how current a number is.

How we safeguard quality

  • Sanity checks on ingest. Incoming numbers are validated against expected ranges. Suspicious spikes or missing fields are dropped rather than published, so a bad upstream tick does not poison a ranking.
  • Consistent units everywhere. Volumes are normalized to USD, market caps use circulating supply, and pair / coin counts are deduplicated — so the column you compare across exchanges actually means the same thing on every row.
  • Graceful fallbacks. If a single field is unavailable temporarily, we show the last known value (or a clear placeholder) instead of inventing a number. We would rather be honest than full.
  • Independent and unpaid. Exchanges and projects cannot pay to be ranked higher, listed first or featured. Position is determined purely by the metric for that ranking.

How to read the numbers

  • 24h volume is a rolling window — not a calendar day. It tells you how active a venue or asset has been over the last 24 hours, so it can change between two refreshes even without big news.
  • Pairs vs coins are two different signals. A high pair count means a venue offers many ways to trade the same assets; a high coin count means broad asset coverage. Strong exchanges usually score well on both.
  • Market cap uses circulating supply, not maximum supply. Two coins with the same price can have very different market caps — and very different risk profiles.
  • Sentiment indices (Fear & Greed, Altcoin Season) are context, not signals. Treat them as a market mood gauge, not a buy/sell instruction.
  • Always verify before trading. For any decision that involves real money, double-check the price and liquidity directly on the exchange you intend to use. Markets move in seconds; rankings move in minutes.

How are exchanges ranked?

Secondary indicators such as the number of supported trading pairs and listed coins are shown alongside, so you can judge both depth and breadth at a glance.
