Halving

Bitcoin event where the block reward is cut in half.

Roughly every four years (210,000 blocks), Bitcoin's block reward halves. This hard-coded supply schedule reduces new BTC issuance over time and drives Bitcoin's monetary scarcity narrative. Halvings have historically preceded major bull markets, though the sample size is small.

The next Bitcoin halving is expected around April 2028 at block 1,050,000.
