Layer 2 (L2)

Scaling layer that batches transactions and posts them to an L1.

L2s execute transactions off-chain (or on a separate chain) and periodically anchor proofs to a base L1 like Ethereum. They inherit L1 security while offering much lower fees and higher throughput. Major Ethereum L2s: Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, zkSync, Linea, Scroll.
